Ayogo Health Inc., a world-leading vendor of digital health and patient engagement products and services, is one of 18 companies selected by Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) in a competitive process to receive funds from the Western Innovation Initiative (WINN). WINN is a federal initiative that offers repayable contributions for small and medium-sized enterprises with operations in Western Canada, in order to help move their new and innovative technologies from the later stages of research and development to the marketplace.
“I’d like to thank Minister Bains for recognizing the important role digital innovation is playing in transforming the healthcare system for the better,” says Michael Fergusson, CEO of Ayogo. “There are tremendous opportunities world-wide to commercialize the advances Canadian companies are making in this area, and Ayogo is proud to be acknowledged as a leader in this regard.”
Attracting early-stage capital for technology commercialization is a key challenge for SMEs in Western Canada. WINN promotes the development and diversification of the western Canadian economy by providing financial support to qualified SMEs to help them accelerate the commercialization of innovative products, processes and services in Western Canada. It also stimulates greater private sector investment in western Canadian commercialization activities.
“The Government of Canada is working hard to help western Canadian entrepreneurs turn their ideas into thriving businesses and create good middle class jobs,” says the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Western Economic Diversification Canada, “Through the Innovation and Skills Plan funding programs such as Western Innovation (WINN) initiative, we are helping to propel innovative entrepreneurs and businesses from start-ups into global success.”
Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is the federal department that promotes economic growth in Western Canada. Its programs and services help businesses, not-for-profits and communities grow stronger. WINN supports the federal government’s Innovation and Skills Plan. This plan helps to make Canada a world-leading centre for innovation that creates well-paying jobs and grows the middle class.
